RESPONSIBLE TO RESPONSIBLE FOR Control Room / Security.The person will be responsible for the

monitoring of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras and ensuring that appropriate responses are

initiated, as defined by theoperational Code of Practice.2. Role DimensionA working awareness is

expected of standards and directives which affect the monitoringoperation. The post holder will be

trained to achieve and maintain the Public Space Surveillance License required by the Security

Industry Authority.The Casual CCTV Operator shall be responsible for prioritising their workload,

and will be expected to ensure that this is in accordance with service requirements.The following is

a list of the main areas of responsibility and may necessitate amendmentwith the passage of time:To

operate and control the CCTV monitoring equipment, and any future additions to that equipment, as

directed by the Community Safety Development Officer.To act at all times in accordance with

procedures laid down within the approved operational CCTV Code of Practice.To answer incoming calls

made to the CCTV Control Room by the Police, traders or any other agencies participating in the

system.To be responsible, whilst on duty, to determine and take the appropriate action required in

response to any incident monitored or call received.To complete appropriate administration

procedures in connection with any relevant incidents monitored.To maintain an appropriate log of

events, accurately recording events and actions in response to events and incidents associated with

CCTV monitoring and operation.To keep the CCTV monitoring and related equipment in a clean and tidy

condition at all times.To conduct oneself in accordance with recognised Council policy and

procedures in respect of confidentiality and equal opportunities.To demonstrate the CCTV control

equipment to any approved visitors as appropriate.In addition to the above duties and

responsibilities, the post holder is required to undertake any other related duties as may be

assigned from time to time by the SectionHead (Community Safety Development Officer) or Director of

Service Improvement.Decision MakingGenerally, the post holder will be expected to recognise the

bounds of his/her authority and take appropriate courses of action after making a considered

judgement.Complexity/Problem SolvingThe work requires a high level of concentration and an ability

to focus on and note relevant details and act appropriately, as the post holder will be working

independently. Knowledge and SkillsThe post holder will be expected to be flexible, self-motivated

and adopt a pro-active approach.The post holder will be expected to identify any personal skills

shortfalls and to undertake any training deemed necessary by the Community Safety Development

Officer.Suggestions to improve quality and efficiency will be encouraged.The Council’s Policy and

procedures in respect of confidentiality, equal opportunities and its Corporate Plan, will be

carried out at all times.Initiative and reliability are qualities to be developed.It is a

requirement of the post that the CCTV Operator achieve the CCTV Operations (Public Space

Surveillance) Award in order to qualify for the Public Space SurveillanceLicence required by the

Security Industry Authority.Impact on End Results Tasks and duties must be carried out effectively
